Ranks & Insignias
In order to create an atmosphere related to military simulation, a promotion system resembling the U.S. Army's was needed. The following policy is the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment's attempt to bring real-world realism into the practical application of gaming where the unit exists. This policy aims to create a fair and impartial way to reward members for their dedication to the unit.
Promotion Policy Overview
Ranks at the enlisted, warrant officer, and officer levels possess different criteria or requirements for promotion. These include contributing to the community outside of duties, no lapse in activity levels, proficiency in-game, graduation from required leadership training, and recommendation from a supervisor or promotion board. More open-ended requirements, such as forum contributions and proficiency in-game, are subject to interpretation by the promotion board, while more defined requirements involve active participation in staff section(s).
Requirements for Promotion
Time in Grade (TIG) is the number of days spent at the current rank, while Time in Service (TIS) is the overall number of days spent in the unit. TIG is adjusted for reserve members, but TIS remains unchanged. The requirements for TIG and TIS are generally fixed and deviations require approval from S-1 Personnel and Command Staff. Awards and decorations may also contribute to TIG, with more prestigious awards offering additional credited days. Promotions are subject to approval by the S-1 Personnel Officer and must be checked for disciplinary complaints or an activity check.
Promotion Board
Personnel up for promotion to ranks requiring a promotion board will be reviewed by their immediate chain of command. Factors such as activity, performance in-game, leadership abilities, awards, and general character will be assessed. The promotion board may conduct interviews at their discretion. Results are submitted to the S-1 Personnel Officer for final approval.
